Georg Iggers, Knauerstraße Elementary School, Hamburg (1933)

Georg Iggers (front row, first from left). Georg Iggers starts school at the Knauerstraße elementary school for boys in Hamburg-Eppendorf in April 1933, a few days after the first boycott of Jews. He experiences the political changes in everyday school life when, a short time later, the swastika flag is hoisted for roll call, the Horst Wessel song is sung and the Hitler salute is used instead of the ‘Good morning’ greeting.
