Georg Iggersheimer is born as the first son of the Jewish merchant Alfred Iggersheimer and his wife Lizzy, née Minden, in the Hamburg district of Eppendorf on December 7,1926. Shortly after the NSDAP Seizure of Power in 1933, he starts school at the Knauerstraße elementary school. He experiences the daily restrictions on the Jewish population. He comes to terms with his religion at an early age and professes it.
