Jeremy Iggers: 'Nigger Lovers' - We lived in two worlds

Jeremy Iggers, Prag 2005

“For us as children, it was difficult, but also a good experience. The schools in New Orleans at that time were segregated, whites only. And where we lived, we were the only white family. All my friends on the playground were Black, and my schoolmates were white. I was once attacked on the playground at school as a “nigger lover.” So, it was difficult at times. But still, living in two worlds like that was a good experience.”
