At the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962, Georg Iggers protested against American war hysteria and campaigned for a peaceful solution to the conflict. A year later, the Iggers family moved to Chicago, where Wilma and Georg both got new jobs. During this time, the beginning of the Vietnam War is an increasingly important topic. In 1965, Wilma and Georg Iggers received professorships in Buffalo, N.Y. There, Georg helps organize a counseling center for conscientious objectors and Wilma is active in the international women’s peace movement.
