Jeremy Iggers: Father's activities in the civil rights movement and against the Vietnam War, personal experiences

Interview with Jeremy Iggers, Son of Wilma und Georg Iggers, on the occasion of the award ceremony to Wilma Iggers (Prag 2004)

“I think my father always had a very strong sense of justice, and that stemmed from his own experience as a child in Germany—his experience of anti-Semitism. When the family emigrated to America and immigrated to Richmond, Virginia, he witnessed very strong racism against Black people. I think his own experiences influenced him. His interest in fighting racism and discrimination stemmed from that. He was also active in the fight against the Vietnam War in later years, and that also stemmed from his earlier experiences.”
