Wilma Abeles attended the Czech citizen school in Bischofteinitz in 1932 and one year later the Czech grammar school in Domazlice. After the NSDAP seizure of power in Germany in 1933, anti-Semitic actions increased over the years in the area around Bischofteinitz, which was mainly inhabited by Germans. In September 1938 the ‘Company Abeles-Popper’ fled to the interior of the country after the Munich Agreement and from there to Canada.
