Georg Iggers, happy about the award ceremony for Wilma Iggers

“I was very happy that she was recognized.
One thing is that she never lost contact with the Czech Republic. During the whole time she was in close contact with her classmates by letter and then also became very interested in Bohemian literature and culture. Bohemian not only meant Czech, but also German. She’s bilingual in that respect. And then she was also very interested in the role played by Jews in Bohemia since the 18th century.
Somehow we both tried to build bridges. We both made contact with Germany again, we visited Germany again and again and spent time in Germany again. In Göttingen and Bielefeld and also in the former GDR. And we kept coming back to Bohemia back in the 1960s.
I am pleased that her commitment to Bohemian culture has been recognized.”
